Created from ebonised boxwood and natural boxwood, The Sovereign Series chessmen are one of the most elegant and beautiful Staunton chess sets that we stock here at the Regency Chess Company. At just 7.62 cm, the king height is seemingly small for a set of luxury chess pieces however the broadness of the bases means that the overall scale is spot on, weighting good and balance near perfect.

The set has been expertly crafted by the world's finest producer of wooden chessmen using clean graded boxwood. The ebonising process creates very convincing ebony effect chess pieces. The colour permeates the wood and meaning it will not wear off over time. As these sets are produced by special order in quantities of no more than ten with just one knight carver used for each and every knight, you can expect all four knights in the set to be virtually identical despite the fact that they have been carved by human hands. This luxury set includes 4 queens.

As they are most at home on a 50.8 cm chess board, we have teamed these chess men up with a stunning board created by the family owned Manopoulos. They are well known for their expertise in marquetry and backgammon sets, expect this board to be of the highest quality. It is superbly presented with quality mahogany and birch veneers along with master workmanship has producing a board with an old fashioned artisanal feel and look about it. It also represents great value for money.
