Designed by Daniel Weil of Pentagram, The Official World Chess Set (Academy Edition) replicates, in plastic, the iconic design of the renowned World Chess Championship set. This same design is used in both World Chess Championship matches and Grand Prix events.

Crafted in custom moulds using premium plastic, these quality chessmen are perfectly weighted for their size and yield a total weight of 600 grams.

The king stands at 8.6 cm and makes it ideal for use by chess clubs and tournaments. The sturdy chessboard measures 44 cm and folds into quarters to fit into the rather smart and practical presentation case drawer. The board is notated for recording your moves and matches to review and learn from at a later date. It also allows you to replicate moves and games that have been notated in the past by other players.

This set design has been the exclusive choice for over a decade for use in premier tournaments and World Chess Championship matches. It made its debut at the Candidates Tournaments in 2013, where we saw Carlsen secure his championship match spot through tie-breaks.
