Our tallest Down Head Knight chessmen, with a 9.5 cm king, come paired with a deluxe storage cabinet – durable boxwood pieces, extra queens, and a beautifully crafted board with drawers.

Crafted from carefully selected boxwood, this set of chessmen offers remarkable quality at an affordable price. Unlike many sets in this range, it includes two extra queens for promotion, adding even more value. Each piece is carved from a single block of wood, making it incredibly strong and durable. This method ensures that your chess pieces are built to last for generations rather than just a few years.

Despite their reasonable price, every piece in the Down Head Knight range is meticulously crafted and finished to a high standard. Hand-polished to a medium gloss, each piece has an elegant, understated shine. The black pieces undergo an ebonising process, giving them the appearance of real ebony while enhancing the strength and longevity of the wood.

This substantial and weighty cabinet complements these chess pieces perfectly, featuring a rich mahogany-coloured frame with a playing surface made of walnut and maple squares, bordered by a sleek black frame that ties the whole set together. The satin finish not only protects the board during play but also creates an eye-catching battlefield for your Down Head chessmen.

The cabinet includes two wooden storage drawers, one on each side of the board, complete with chrome-effect handles for easy access. Each drawer is carefully compartmentalised and lined with fabric to ensure your chess pieces are well-protected when not in use.

With two compartment sizes—one measuring 10.2 x 4 x 3.8 cm and the other 8 x 4 x 3.8 cm—the drawers comfortably accommodate these chessmen.
