Perhaps our most traditional
Staunton set of wooden chess pieces, each Conquest chess piece is hand turned then expertly carved from high quality boxwood to create this exceptional set of chess men.
The darker pieces are put through an ebonising process that seeps deep into the hardwood, giving it a professional finish, while also further protecting the wood. This is a set of chess men that will last for many years.
The King at 10.16 cm along all the other pieces are perfectly weighted and have a base layer of felt to ensure your board is protected. This lovely 16.75 board has been crafted in Spain from walnut and maple and has a billiard cloth base that doubles as the hinge.
The ebonised border on this board 'sets off' ebonised chessmen beautifully and the 4.83 cm squares allows it to accommodate these slightly larger Conquest pieces that ordinarily a board this size wouldn't.
To complement this set, we have matched it with a beautifully constructed Rootwood Veneer Chess Piece case that is lined inside with 2 plush black flocked compartments and a black flocked base. Chrome plated quadrant hinges are inset into the cabinet creating a clean, strong look that is robust. Quadrant hinges not only look good, but they stop the cabinet lid from folding back too far, allowing the lid to safely rest open. The cabinet also features a contemporary looking chrome plated clasp that keeps the case closed when not in use.
This combination of components creates a wonderfully
traditional Staunton chess set at an affordable price.
